Service Call from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. There was a pretty sunrise this morning. And, you know...red sky at morning...and all that. On the other hand, we're always expecting rain this time of year, and so the warning doesn't really surprise us.

After writing yesterday's late-in-the-day post, I spent some time stitching Tiny Treasure #17.

From there, I got busy with the last of the quilting for the Whimsical Garden. As I mentioned in yesterday's post, this was the motif I was attempting. I'd traced over it with a pencil several times, and it seemed simple ...

A Bear of a Block from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. There I was, sewing away in my sewing room, minding my own business when mayhem broke loose. I nearly lost my life being mauled by a bear block. Allow me to explain.

First, Sadie showed up to help.

Nothing I was doing interested her, and so she went back upstairs. I'm told she was giving a TED talk about how to ready one's winter body for next year's bikini season.

That was okay because Smitty was there to help.

He assisted me while I finished up the applique for the eagle block.

And ...

Mostly Slow from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends, and welcome to November! We had to turn a calendar page since the last time we chatted. Also, we fell back an hour! Did you remember?

Sheesh...so much excitement in such a short period of time. If I were a southern girl, it might have given me a case of the vapors.

Before I go on, I want to thank those of you who stopped by to admire Mermie's Cabin yesterday. Thank you for your kind comments. I had fun making that little quilt. With that as my post yesterday, I have two days ...

Starting and Finishing from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. The promised rain has finally arrived. We're expecting rain for a good part of the week. It's just in time for my one-hour drive (both ways) to a quilt shop tomorrow. Too bad I couldn't have done it on a nicer day. Oh well. The fabric I'll see there will brighten my day.

But let's talk about yesterday, shall we? When I left you, I was heading for my slow-stitching. I was hoping I could finish it up yesterday. After stitching for an hour, I had to call it quits. Now ...

Four Projects from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Life has been busy over the past week, and it'll continue to be busy into next week. As I mentioned, I took yesterday off from blogging since I was scheduled for a DEXA scan. (No change from my last scan, which is good news.) Next Monday I'll be getting everyone's favorite "oscopy" procedure. Yeah...let's just not talk about it, okay? You'll also be happy to know that I now have a prescription so that I can get my COVID vaccine. That isn't for a couple of weeks, but I ...

Snowmen in September from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. I gave myself an easy day yesterday. There were a few small tasks to take care of, and I did a Bowflex workout. Also, I pureed the watermelon given to us by our CSA farmers. I'll make some watermelon sorbet from that later today. I've made sorbet from all kinds of fruit, but watermelon is my favorite.

Since I was taking a lazy day, I didn't make it into the sewing room until late in the day. Smitty was my helper cat.

As a reminder, my goal was to make this block...the ...

A Good Start from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. I'm writing fast again this morning. I was writing fast yesterday in anticipation of Scott, the window guy, coming. It was past 10:00 a.m. when he texted and asked to reschedule for today. He said he was "having a morning." Frankly, I know the feeling. No problem. So today's the day. Hopefully he'll have a better morning.

Expecting him to show, I hurried and did my slow-stitching before getting myself around and dressed. I finished another name and place for the Shop Hop 4.0 quilt. Now I'm ready for ...

Home Again from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Yes, I did say I was going to take a few days off from blogging while we get resettled at home, but our drive from yesterday deserved a post. Honestly, I can't remember when I've seen worse traffic. We decided to get our beloved Egg McMuffins for breakfast. There was a McDonald's nearby, and so it seemed a little like a breakfast celebration. The only thing missing was the champagne for our orange juice.

As I mentioned in yesterday's post, traffic through Seattle is notoriously awful. It's even been listed in ...

Houston, Alaska from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We find ourselves in Houston this morning. And I'll bet you thought Houston was in Texas. But no. It’s right here in Alaska. Welcome.

There wasn't much notable along the way. We've been over this road once before, and now we're heading back the way we came. We're here in Houston because it was the closest place we could find to Palmer...the closest that wasn't already booked up for the days we wanted. So the sight-seeing we'll do here is a bit of a drive, but not ...

Lackluster Day from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. I moved through the day like a zombie yesterday...not that I felt dead, but I tried to bore myself to death. It took me half the day just to get off the couch, and then I completely forgot to do my assigned housekeeping chores. And it got so late in the day that I decided not to walk on the treadmill. Some days are like that, I guess.

On the must-do list, however, were these Lemon-Blueberry Muffin Cookies. I'm linking to the recipe there, but that in no way indicates a recommendation from me ...
